Check out this LA Times opinion piece on the impact of AI on artists, including authors, photographers, and composers. At Aiello Studios, we use AI very cautiously, thoughtfully, and ethically for our reimagined images that we label as digital art, as we've detailed here in our blog, articles, and on social media.
AI can be a powerful tool for artists when used correctly. However, the concerns raised in the article are valid and significant. It's especially important to address the practice of creating art and music solely from prompts without using original work as reference material in an editing and transformation workflow. Transparency and proper labeling of AI-generated work are crucial, and I suspect we'll eventually see regulations in this area as self-regulation continues to prove insufficient for protecting the rights of creators.
